NVIDIA's RTX 50-series laptops are here. We benchmarked 14 machines with RTX 5070, 5080, and 5090 GPUs across 20 AAA titles at max settings, plus measured thermals (IR camera), noise (dBA meter), and battery life.
Best Overall: ASUS ROG Strix G18 (RTX 5080, $2,499)
18" QHD+ 240Hz Mini LED display is stunning (1600 nits peak HDR). The RTX 5080 runs at 175W TGP with no thermal throttling. Vapor chamber cooling keeps the WASD area under 35°C during extended gaming.
Best Thin: Razer Blade 16 (RTX 5070, $2,799)
Just 16.8mm thick, yet sustains 140W GPU. The OLED 240Hz panel has 0.01ms response. Trade-off: louder fans (48 dBA under load) vs the Strix (42 dBA).
Best Value: Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (RTX 5070, $1,899)
95% of the Strix's performance at 24% less cost. Build quality is solid, keyboard is excellent. The 240Hz IPS panel isn't Mini LED but still great.

NVIDIA's new MFG mode generates 3 intermediate frames, effectively quadrupling perceived framerate. In practice, 60 FPS becomes ~200 FPS with minimal latency penalty.
